The removal process for semi-permanent make-up differs slightly from that of traditional black tattoos due to the unique chemical compounds involved. We recommend scheduling a patch test and consultation, during which we can explain all the possible outcomes and evaluate the colours used in your semi-permanent make-up. The patch test not only makes sure we are using the correct parameters for you, it also gives us a clear understanding of how your individual pigment will respond.
Semi-permanent make-up removal typically requires 2–4 sessions, depending on how much pigment is present. More saturated or previously treated brows may require additional sessions.
Typically, warmer tones tend to fade through a spectrum, transitioning from brown to red, orange, and possibly yellow before complete removal. In contrast, grey-toned semi-permanent make-up usually behaves more like a black tattoo, often fading into dull blue and grey shades over time before full elimination.
Some semi-permanent make-up pigments contain compounds (such as iron oxides) that can react during laser treatment. This may cause the brows to temporarily darken before they begin to fade. This is a normal and expected reaction, not a cause for concern. In most cases, the pigment will gradually lighten again over the following weeks as the body breaks it down.
YOU MAY BE SLIGHTLY SWOLLEN AND RED FOR 24 HOURS. This typically goes down quite quickly as semi-permanent make-up removal is a minimally invasive laser treatment.
We recommend that you use ice packs for an hour after treatment minimum and keep yourself elevated and drink lots of water. Keep the area clean with no make-up for 48 hours. Aloe vera can be applied also.
It’s also possible to experience minor singeing of hair during the laser removal process for eyebrow semi-permanent make-up (usually more common in naturally darker hair). However, rest assured that the laser we use is designed not to damage hair follicles. Any slightly singed hair will grow back, so there’s no need for concern!
